Start the Countdown

2019 is almost over. Wow. It has been a year. Looking back, a lot has happened and changed. Looking forward, there is a sense of wonder, excitement, and even a bit of nervousness. What will 2020 bring? Will there be more heartache? Maybe there will be healing? Will deeper friendships or even a romantic relationship develop next year?

Will I grow in Christ, or will I, like the prodigal son, wander off into a far country away from my Heavenly Father? Worse than that, will I become complacent in my relationship with Christ and be “lukewarm” as scripture calls it? ( Revelations 3:15 & 16)

What will 2020 bring? Many of us can become consumed with thoughts of the future. The plans that we want to make, the goals we want to reach, the house or car we want to buy. So many things that we can pray happens for us in the new year. The healing we desire to receive, be it physical or spiritual. That extraordinary relationship because every season of the year has some relationship goal we’re told to aspire too.

Maybe 2020 will host a second chance with a lost relation or opportunity that was mishandled in the past. There are so many possibilities for next year.

But, there are also the same amount of opportunities for today, December 2, 2019. It will be the same tomorrow, and the day following and the day after.

I don’t know what you’re waiting for 2020 to do and start. But I would encourage you not to put whatever it is off for January if you can. We don’t know the number of days we have.

We do know that God is a very present help in the time of need, so we have strength and a defender in Him. We also know that now, today is the day of salvation. So we do with today what we can as unto the Lord.

2020 will surely be beautiful because God is in it and has a purpose. But the same can be said for December 2019. After all, Jesus is the reason for the season. Let’s be sure to enjoy the rest of 2019, and praise God in it.

Scriptures to consider: •Philippians 4:6-8 •2 Corinthians 6:1-4 •Psalms 46:1
